  • Vespers and the Order of Forgiveness at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau

“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5: 23-24)

6 March 2022, on the Evening of the Sunday of Forgiveness (Cheesefare Sunday), Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova officiated the service of Vespers and the Order of Forgiveness in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Chisinau.

The Metropolitan Secretary, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and numerous priests and deacons assisted the arch-pastor during the service.

The clergy and laity of the Metropolis of Moldova came to ask forgiveness and reconcile with each other during the prayers before the beginning of Great Lent.

At the end of the service, Metropolitan Vladimir came up with a message of pastoral guidance, talking about the significance, atmosphere, and spiritual fruits of Great Lent.

“My dear, Great Lent is a good opportunity for fervent prayer and good acts. Spiritual fasting includes a fasting of the feelings – the moth abstaining from telling untruth and injustice, the eyes abstaining from looking at destroying and tempting things, the ears abstaining from listening to vain talks. Blessed is the one who combines spiritual fasting with the bodily one, because abstention leads to the bright image of Christian humbleness”.

The arch-pastor asked forgiveness from all those present, and then advised everybody to experience Great Lent in full peace with each other, in order to reach the bright feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
