  • Under the sign of the Holy Cross: Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and 60th anniversary of H.E. Sava, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubasari

    On 26-27 September 2018, the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, made a canonical visit to the Diocese of Tiraspol and Dubasari, upon the invitation of Archbishop Sava

    The spiritual celebrations started on Wednesday evening, 26 September, with the Great Vespers to the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross at the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Tiraspol.

    Unlike other great Feasts, the Elevation of the Holy Cross is celebrated in the atmosphere of feast, in the commemoration of the Passions of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

    Thursday, 27 September, Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Elevation of the Holy Cross Church under construction in Tiraspol.

    This Feast coincided with celebration of the 60th anniversary of His Eminence Sava, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubasari. On this occasion, archpastors from a number of dioceses from abroad arrived to unite in Communion with Archbishop Sava.

    During the Small Entrance, Metropolitan Vladimir awarded church distinctions to a number of clergymen of the Diocese of Tiraspol and Dubasari.

    After the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Vladimir addressed a message of congratulation to Archbishop Sava, wishing him long live on the way of salvation, strengths and blessings from the Lord in his archpastoral mission. Metropolitan Vladimir awarded the First Category Order of St. Petru Movila to Archbishop Sava, and rendered the Patriarchal award – Third Category Order of St. Innokenty of Moscow and Kolomna.

    Very emotional, Archbishop Sava thanked to Metropolitan Vladimir for brotherly congratulations and blessings, mentioning that all achievements obtain up to the present were possible only with the help of the Lord and with joined efforts proving brotherly unity and love.
