  • The Third Sunday after Pentecost, celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6, 33)

Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the  Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau on the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost.

The Sunday Gospel Reading ends with the words, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”. This is the essence of Christian life, for our utmost goal is reunification with God in His Heavenly Kingdom. Utmost peace with the Creator is only possible if God becomes the core of our being. He is the light that we should have within us, in order to restore our heavenly citizenship. We have many day-to-day needs, but they should never stay between us and the Source of all goods. When God is on the first place, everything else is put on their own places, that is why, today’s Gospel fragment calls us to rely on God and His mercy. Many of our concerns are simple vanity, but the life is too short and precious to be wasted on perishing things.

The Church calls us to turn to God, in prayer and good acts. God is always waiting for us.

Inspired by this message, the church-goers present at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Square prayed for peace with God and among people, for the illumination of the entire world, and for joy in our Lord Jesus Christ.
