  • The Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, specific to Great Lent, is read these days in Orthodox Churches

We became ill through sin, let us heal then through repentance. And repentance without fast is helpless. Improve, then, before God, through fast. (St. Basil the Great).

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca officiated the Great Compline with the Canon of St. Andew of Crete in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral.

The Great Canon of St. Andew of Crete is one of the most beautiful theological and liturgical creations helping the Christians to enter into the spiritual atmosphere of repentance and humility, specific to the Great Lent.

During the First Week of the Great Lent, the Great Compline with the Canon of St. Andew of Crete is officiated from Monday to Thursday, at 17.00.

Numerous church-goers, leaving behind their daily cares, come to the church to plunge into the atmosphere of Great Lent, supported by these prayers calling to repentance and spiritual awakening.

On Wednesday and Friday this week, the Divine Liturgy of Pre-Sanctified Gifts will be celebrated.
