  • The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost celebrated at the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau

22 September 2019, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost: Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau, in the presence of numerous church-goers.

The arch-pastor’s liturgical prayers were shared by His Grace Ioan, Metropolitan Vicar and Bishop of Soroca, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Dean of the Cathedral, and the clergy of the holy place.

The Gospel Readings heard on this Sunday during the Divine Liturgy included the Parable of the marriage feast of the king’s son, related by Holy Apostle Matthew (22: 2-14).

Lord Jesus Christ compares the Kingdom of God with the marriage feast of the king’s son, showing that all people are expected to share the joy of heavenly kingdom with and within God, but very few accept the invitation, and even fewer of them become worthy of it. The Heavenly Kingdom is compared to a marriage feast, for the relation with God resembles a human soul’s intimate union with its Creator. The condition of being worthy for the participation in this feast is wearing appropriate clothes – that is, having true faith and complete trust of God.

This matrimonial garment is embellished by Christian deeds, such as acts of charity, virtuous life, prayer, humility, piety, repentance, all of which is culminated with Holy Communion.

Liturgical responses at the Divine Service were provided by the Cathedral’s Choir directed by Angela Angheni.
