  • The First Sunday after Pentecost, the Sunday of All Saints, celebrated at the Metropolitan Nativity of the Lord Cathedral

On the Feast of All Saints celebrated by the Orthodox Church on the Fist Sunday after Pentecost, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Divine Service was celebrated in the presence of numerous church-goers who came to the central Cathedral to give glory to the Lord and thank Him for all mercy, praying for peace and goodwill among people.

The Gospel and Apostle readings of this Sunday (Hebrews 11, 33-12, 2 and Matthew 10, 32-33, 37-38; 19, 27-30) speak about the sacrifice of the saints who witnessed their faith into Jesus Christ. In the light of the teaching of Lord Jesus, only those can inherit the Life Eternal in the Kingdom of God, who come to know the true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent (John 17, 3).

This was fully shown to us by the lives of the saints, who glorified God through their faith, preaching, and through their sacrifice.

During the Service, Metropolitan Vladimir ordained deacon Alexander Reabov, the second year student at the Academy of Orthodox Theology.

A Thanks-giving service followed the Divine Liturgy, after which the church-goers were explained the meaning and the importance of the fast that starts immediately after the All Saints’ Sunday, lasting till the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
