  • The Fifth Sunday after the Pentecost, at the Metropolitan Cathedral

Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Fifth Sunday after the Pentecost, with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova.

The Sunday’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 8:28-9:1) refers to the healing by Lord Jesus Christ of two demon-possessed men near the country of Gergesenes.

Delivering the arch-pastoral message after the Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Ioan mentioned:

“We learn from this Gospel Reading that Lord Christ came to grand healing to those who had been enslaved by devil, to those in suffering, to those in long and heavy illness. He, Son of God, came in to the world out of love for the fallen man, and showed understanding to every human being. By this attitude, our Lord teaches us how to behave with others, with people in suffering, with those who are alone, those at the limit of patience, those who are no longer tolerated by others, those living at the margins of the society, those who no longer receive any help. Thus, Lord Jesus Christ always showed this unspoken love for all people who came across His way”.

Thanks-giving prayers were uttered after the Divine Liturgy, and Bishop Ioan communicated Metropolitan Vladimir’s greetings and blessings to the praying community.
