  • The Fifth Sunday after Holy Pascha: Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Trinity church in Konkovo, Moscow

Sunday, 22nd May 2022, on the Feast of the Translation of the Relics of Holy Hierarch Nicholas from Myra to Bari, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Holy and Life-Giving Trinity Parish in Konkovo, Moscow.

The liturgical program started on Saturday evening, when Metropolitan Vladimir, the rector of the mentioned parish in Moscow, officiated the Great Vespers service.

At the Sunday Liturgy, hieromonk Efrem (Rusu), vice rector of the community, assisted Metropolitan Vladimir together with the parish clergy.

Liturgical responses were provided by the parish choir directed by Larisa Artyushenko.

The Sunday Gospel Reading (John 4: 5-42) speaks about the meeting and discussion of the Lord with the Samaritan woman and Jacob’s well.

The Samaritan woman is a model of confession of faith in Christ. She brings the entire community to Christ, showing us how our faith can become vivid and working. The living water, symbolizing the Grace of the Holy Spirit, changes the woman’s entire life and transforms her into the Messiah’s apostle. Becoming a missionary, the Samaritan woman brings numerous people to Christ and brings Christ into her own community. Coming to the Samaritans, Lord Jesus Christ shows them that the true worship of God is available not only to one specific and selected nation, but to the entire humanity. We can see thus that the Lord’s Gospel is a Gospel of God’s mercy, is the good news of the saving heavenly grace, and is the living water that offers life in the Kingdom of God.

A Cross Procession took place after the Divine Liturgy, when the praying community walked around the parish church with hymns, prayers, and Gospel Readings. At the end of the service, Metropolitan Vladimir addressed a message of arch-pastoral guidance to the community, mentioning that this Liturgy marked one year’s anniversary of His Eminence’s ministry in their parish.

On 12th April 2021, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia decreed the creation of the Representation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova in the Holy and Life-Giving Trinity Parish in Konkovo, Moscow.
