Sunday, 12 June 2022, on the Feast of the Holy Trinity, the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, Metropolitan Vladimir, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.
The arch-pastor was assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean, and numerous priests and deacons of the holy shrine.
The coming-down of the Holy Spirit is the oldest Christian holiday, along with Easter, and is celebrated since the apostolic age. This feast is mentioned by holy apostles Luke (Acts 20, 16) and Paul (1 Cor. 16, 8), while the Apostolic Constitutions proscribe that slaves are except from work on this day.
This divine service was very special for deacon Dumitru Darmancev who was ordained priest and appointed to the parish of Pohrebea, Dubasari region.
The Vespers service was officiated after the Divine Liturgy, during which Metropolitan Vladimir and the assisting clergy uttered special litanies and knelt prayer. The Vespers on the Feast of the Pentecost is a special service, unique in its prayers accompanied by kneeling of the entire praying community.
Also today a copy of the holy icon of the Theotokos Tricherusa was brought to the Cathedral from Hilandar monastery in Mount Athos, Greece.
The holy shrine will be available for worship in the Cathedral for a short period of time, during which all pilgrims are expected to visit the Cathedral for worship.
