The Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord on 2/15 February. The celebrated event is reflected in the Holy Gospel related by Holy Apostle Luke
Thus, on Friday, 15 February, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau. The arch-pastor was assisted at the church service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, the Cathedral Dean, and the synaxis of priests and deacons.
The Feast of the Meeting of the Lord reminds the Christians of our mission of meeting and greeting Lord Jesus Christ in all our life. This meeting is realized by listening the word of the Gospel and living in the light of its teaching.
During the Divine Service, Metropolitan Vladimir ordained deacon Alexandru Pruteanu into priesthood, appointing the young cleric to ministry in the church of the Meeting of the Lord in Chisinau.
Graduate of Chisinau Academy of Theology, Mihail Ciobanu was ordained into deaconate.
Also during the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir and the concelebrating clergy commemorated the reposed Orthodox Christians who fought within the Soviet military contingent in Afghanistan, marking the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan peace mission.
