On the 22nd November, the 25th Sunday after the Pentecost, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, prayed at the Divine Liturgy along with His Beatitude Onufry, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, His Eminence Agafanghel, Metropolitan of Odessa and Ismail, and His Eminence Alexei, Archbishop of Balta and Ananiev, in the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of the Lord in Balta.
Invited by His Eminence Archbishop Alexei of Balta and Ananiev, Metropolitan Vladimir, assisted by the Metropolitan secretary, Mitr. Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, participated in the events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Dormition Cathedral of Balta.
The Diocese of Balta was created on the 20th December 2012, at the proposal of H.E. Metropolitan Agafanghel of Odessa, and approved by the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. It should be mentioned that there are numerous Orthodox Moldovans who established in Balta region several generations ago.
