  • The 7th Sunday after Holy Pascha: Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau

On the 7th Sunday after Holy Pascha (The Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 1st Oecumenical Council), Metropolitan Vladimir, the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the central Cathedral in Chisinau.

Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, assisted the hierarch together with the Cathedral clergy.

Liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral Choir directed by Angela Angheni.

During the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated diaconal ordination of Dumitru Darmancev, 3rd year student of the Orthodox Theology Academy of Moldova.

The Seventh Sunday after Holy Pascha is dedicated to the commemoration of the Holy Fathers of the First Oecumenical Council that took place in 235 AD in Nicaea. The Church lauds the steadiness of the Holy Fathers in the Right Faith and commemorates the victory over the Arian heresy. The Fathers of the First Oecumenical Council adopted the first part of the Orthodox Creed and defended the dogma of God’s embodiment in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ –true God of true God.

Today’s Gospel Reading (John 17: 1-13) presents the Lord’s prayer to God-Father for the protection of all those who accepted Christ. With the blessing of the hierarch, archpriest Vadim Cheibas delivered a message of pastoral guidance on the Gospel Reading during the Liturgy.
