  • The 5th Sunday after the Resurrection of Christ celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau

In the morning of the 5th Sunday after the Resurrection of Christ, the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the square of the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The arch-pastor was assisted at the Liturgy by the Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and the clergy of the holy settlement.

The Sunday Gospel Reading speaks about the conversation between Lord Jesus and the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well.

The Samaritan Woman is a model of witnessing of the faith in Christ. She goes to the town to invite all inhabitants to meet Christ, who is the source of the water of life. Thus, the Samaritan Woman offers us a model of mission among our fellow citizens. Coming to the Samaritans, Jesus Christ shows to the entire humanity that the salvation is granted not only to the Jews, but to all people.

Special prayers during the Liturgy were uttered for the invocation of the mercy of God on our country and entire world, in the context of coronavirus pandemic. According to the existing rules, public religious congregations are only possible out of doors.
