20 February 2021, on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Church in Konkovo, representative of the Moldovan Orthodox Church in Moscow.
The liturgical program started on Saturday 19 February, with the Vespers service celebrated by Metropolitan Vladimir together with the parish clergy.
During the Sunday Service, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated together with Bishop Pantelimon of Vereisk, Vicar of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia. The hierarchs were assisted by the priests and deacons of the parish, who prayed in the presence of numerous church-goers.
Liturgical responses were provided by the parish choir, directed by Larisa Artiushenko.
The Gospel Reading (Luke 15: 11-32) presented the parable of the Prodigal Son, who “came to his senses” and returned from the path of slavery to true freedom, abandoning sin through repentance.
This evangelical fragment prepares the Christians for Great Lent and teaches us think about the Lord’s gifts that we dissipate in a life full of sin, abandonment of God, egoist addictions. We have an opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father, gathering the spiritual gifts through prayer and good acts, standing in light and enriching our souls with God’s teaching.
After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir addressed a message of greeting and archpastoral guidance to the liturgical community, and thanked His Grace Pantelimon of Vereisk for concelebrating at the Liturgy.
Bishop Pantelimon thanked Metropolitan Vladimir and expressed hope that the parish of the Life-Giving and Holy Trinity in Konkovo, pastured by the Metropolitan of Moldova, with continue being a spiritual centre of Christian love and mercy.
