  • St. Paisy Velichkovsky celebrated in the Monastery of Noul Neamț (Chițcani, Moldova)

Help us, oh, Venerable Paisy, to fulfil the commandments of Christ, and, together with the heavenly powers, pray for our fathers hierarchs, priests, and monastics, for mothers and children, for those in suffering and need, for all right-faithful Christians, for the peace of the Church of Christ, for the Lord to protect us from all evil, with the grace of the Most Holy Trinity, to Whom glory and thankfulness we give for the ages of ages. Amen.

Thursday, 28 November 2019, the Feast of Venerable Paisy Velichkovsky gathered on the first day of the Advent, or the Fast before the Nativity of Christ, hierarchs, priests, deacons, and hundreds of pilgrims, who arrived to participate in the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of Noul Neamț in Chițcani, Moldova.

Two Liturgies were celebrated simultaneously at two altar of Chițcani Monastery. Metropolitan Vladimir conducted the liturgical service in the Ascension Cathedral, together with Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, retired Archbishop Evstafy (Evdokimov), Bishop Ambrosy of Bogorodsk, and Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, while Archbishop Sava of Tiraspol and Dubasari conducted the Divine Liturgy in the Dormition church of the monastery.

St. Paisy Velichkovsky was a monk of improved and virtuous life, and is a prominent father of the Church, who experienced and promoted hesichastic living. Translating numerous church books and founding many monasteries in Mount Athos and Moldo-Wallachia in the 18th century, Father Paisy left a deep-rooted monastic tradition, reviving the monastic life in Russia, Wallachia, Moldova, and in the entire Orthodox world.

Among numerous monastic settlements revived by Venerable Paisy was the Monastery of Neamț in Moldova (10 km away from Târgul Neamț, Moldovan Province, Romania). As the monastery of Noul Neamț was founded by monks from Neamț Monastery in the 19th C, Venerable Paisy is also the heavenly protector of the Noul Neamț Monastery.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir, Bishop Ambrosy of Bogorodsk delivered the message of arch-pastoral teaching after the Divine Liturgy.

After the Liturgy, a Te-Deum-Laudamus thanks-giving service was officiated at the icon of St. Paisy.

The celebration finished with a Memorial church service officiated at the shrine with the tomb of ever-commemorated Bishop Dorimedont of Edineț and Briceni.

The monastics invited then the entire liturgical community to participate in an Agape dinner.
