7th October, 2019, session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was held in the Patriarchal Chambers of Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, chaired Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia.
Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova participated in the Synod session as its permanent member.
The Synod members greeted and approved the entrance of West-European parishes of Russian tradition into Moscow Patriarchate.
The reunification of the archdiocese of parishes of Russian tradition with the Mother-Church became possible due to considerable changes in life of Russia and the Russian Church.
The Synod decision was commented by the Chairman of the Synodal Department of Church relations with the society and mass-media, V. Legoida.
Patriarch Kirill conducted the Synod members after the session closure to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, where the relics of St. Sergius, the hegumen of the Russian land, rest. The synaxis of arch-pastors officiated there the Small Vespers service with the Akatist hymn to Venerable Sergius.
