Wednesday, 31 July 2019, session of the Diocesan Council was held at the Metropolitan Residence, chaired by His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova. Vicar Bishops Ioan of Soroca and Siluan of Orhei, Metropolitan Secretary, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Chairman of the Church Court, archpriest Valeriu Potoraca, monks and nuns superior of monastic settlements, district deans, and heads of Synodal sectors participated in the event.
Inaugurating the meeting, Metropolitan Vladimir greeted the participants and expressed cordial gratitude for prayers and good wishes on the anniversary of His Eminence’s 40 years of church service and 30 years of arch-pastoral ministry. The metropolitan then outlined main pastoral and missionary activities implemented in the first half of the year 2019, thanking all those present for active involvement into the Church ministry.
Various administrative aspects of church life were discussed, and priorities set for the coming period.
The Arch-pastor discussed with the clergy aspects related to the promotion of Moldovan saints: Holy Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu Bodoni, Blessed Agafia, Holy Hierarch Dionisie recently canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church, and prominent figures proposed for the canonisation in the Moldovan Church, such as Venerable Macarie of Saharna, and others. The metropolitan invited the clergy to participate in the Divine Service commemorating Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu Bodoni at the Monastery of Capriana on 3rd September.
Closing the session, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir offered a gift to all participants – a cross with jewels and an icon with Moldovan Saints, commemorating Metropolitan Vladimir’s 30th anniversary of arch-pastoral mission. In addition, all participants received an anniversary volume of articles and writings SERVING THE CHURCH AND THE NATION, words of Metropolitan Vladimir.
