Wednesday 18 July 2018, the Metropolitan Residence hosted His Excellence Mr. Gjorge Ivanov, President of the Macedonian Republic, arrived in official visit to our country.
Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova warmly greeted His Excellence, and expressed hope that this visit would contribute to the intensification of the existing good relations.
Mr. Gjorge Ivanov thanked the host for cordial welcoming and appreciated as important the mission of the Orthodox Church of Moldova in the two countries, and its role in the promotion of Christian values in the modern European society.
Aspects of the Church’s spiritual, missionary, cultural, scientific, and social mission were discussed in the light of contemporary challenges. Joint actions and experience exchanges in spiritual and cultural issues were appreciated as potentially intensifying and developing, helping the two nations to know closer each other.
Metropolitan Vladimir awarded a high church distinction – commemorative order of St. Paisy Velichkovski to Mr. Gjorge Ivanov, who, in turn, presented the metropolitan with an icon of Lord Jesus Christ.
Orthodox Christians represent about 54% of the population in the Republic of Macedonia.
