14 October 2018, on the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, the Patron Feast in Chisinau, with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir, Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the central cathedral in Chisinau. His Grace Bishop Ioan was assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas and cathedral clergy, who prayed together with hundreds of Chisinau inhabitants and guests gathered in the holy establishment.
Present in the church were Mr. Igor Dodon, President of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Ruslan Codreanu, interim mayor of Chisinau, Mr. Nistor Grozavu, Vice Mayor, and other officials and members of their families.
The liturgical community uttered thanks-giving prayers, in gratitude of endless blessings and mercy cast by the Lord on the entire world, praying also fervently for the heavenly intercession and protection of our Most Pure Lady Mother of God.
After the Liturgy, Bishop Ioan congratulated the praying community, underlining that Chisinau is a blessed town living under the Protection Veil of Virgin Mary.
This year, Chisinau celebrates 582 years since its documentary attestation.
