On the 7th Sunday after the Resurrection of the Lord, 16 June 2024, of the 318 Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325), with the blessing of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca and Drochia, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
In his sermon, the hierarch spoke to Christians about the need to confess the Truth and preserve the unity of our ancestral faith.
This Sunday is a triumphant day for Orthodoxy, because it places before our eyes this icon of the Holy Fathers gathered in glory, of those without whom we could not be a true Church.
Remembering the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, who gave light, much light to Orthodoxy, we praise God, the fountain of holiness, who made the hearts of the Saints the home of His rest and radiance, and we pray saying: “Lord, if we had not Thy suppliant Saints and Thy merciful goodness towards us, how dare we, O Saviour, praise Thee, whom the angels unceasingly praise in heaven.
