  • On the Sunday of Forgiveness, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the consecration of Antiminses and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral

All of you who want to follow the deed of fasting and prayer, all of you who want to gather abundant fruits from your repentance, listen to the word of God, listen to God’s command – and let, forgive your neighbor the mistakes he made towards you! (Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov)

On Cheesfare Sunday (the Sunday of Forgiveness), the last before the beginning of Great Lent, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, officiated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The arch-pastor was assisted during the service by Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, the cathedral dean and metropolitan secretary, Archimandrite Nectarie (Gherman), monastic superior of Horasti Monastery, and the clergy of the Cathedral.

The Divine Service began with the consecration of Antiminses for the parishes of the Metropolis of Moldova, followed by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

The Antimins symbolises the shroud in which the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ was wrapped when He was laid into the tomb. It is also symbol of the tomb of Christ.

During the Small Entrance, His Eminence Vladimir awarded to archimandrite Nectarie (Gherman) the 2nd Category Order of Holy Hierarch Dionisie Erhan, on the occasion of 25th anniversary of priesthood service, and in sign of appreciation of devoted activity to the prosperity and glory of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.

During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated diaconal ordination of subdeacon Constantin Gherman, appointing the cleric to ministry in the Monastery of Holy Prince Vladimir in Horasti.

At the end of the service, the Metropolitan urged all those present to live the time of Lent in complete peace with others, in order to achieve the bright Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

His Eminence called the church-goers to experience true fast, in sobriety and fervent prayer, in order to enjoy true fruits of this ascetic doing.

On Sunday evening, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated the Vespers with the Order of Forgiveness at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
