  • On the 6th Sunday after Pascha, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau

On the 6th Sunday after Pascha, of the Healing of the Blind-born man, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.

The Divine Service was celebrated in the presence of numerous church-goers, who came to the Cathedral to give thanks to God for His mercy, praying for peace and steadiness of the living, and for the repose of the dead.

Today’s Gospel Reading (John 9: 1-38) speaks about the Lord miraculously healing a blind-born man. In this biblical story, a person with physical blindness proved to have a better vision than his Jewish spiritually blind contemporaries.

The Evangelist John offers a very detailed narration about the healing of the blind man, to show that such an act could be done only by the Son of God.

Today’s Liturgy was very special for deacon Petru Turcanu, who was ordained priest and awarded his first church distinction – the right of wearing the Epigonation. During the divine service, Metropolitan Vladimir also ordained Eugen Plesca, graduate of Sibiu Faculty of Orthodox Theology, into the dignity of deacon.

The arch-pastor wished the newly ordained clerics to be worthy servants of the Holy Altar, dedicated to their ministry and bearing their cross with Christian humility and obedience.

The message of spiritual guidance was delivered by Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean, who talked to the church-goers about the true values of faith, wishing them to gain the spiritual vision of the healed man, so that the divine light of Christ enlightens the souls of all believers.
