On the 33rd Sunday after the Pentecost (Sunday of Publican Zacchaeus), His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and Moldova, officiated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean and Metropolitan Secretary, together with numerous priests and deacons of the Cathedral, assisted Metropolitan Vladimir during the Divine Service.
Liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral Choir conducted by Angela Angheni.
The Sunday Gospel Reading (Luke 19: 1-10) speaks about the spiritual effect of the meeting with the Lord: Publican Zacchaeus immediately changes his life, by repentance, and expresses readiness to cover all damage induced to people. Authentical repentance is a firm decision to abandon sinful life and change own way of thinking, while placing God and His Divine Law in the chore of one’s life.
With the blessing of the hierarch, Archpriest Vadim addressed a message of pastoral guidance to the liturgical community, calling the people to dedicate all our lives to the service of God and our neighbour.
The following Sunday, of the Publican and Pharisee, opens the Triodion period and introduces the Christians to Great Lent.
