Tuesday, 18 December 2018, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova met His Excellence Mr. Dereck J. Jogan, the new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova.
Aspects of collaboration between the US Embassy and the Metropolis of Moldova and perspectives of their further development were discussed at the meeting.
The input of the US Government to the patrimony of the Orthodox Church of Moldova was mentioned, namely, the support of the church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Causeni – a monument of architecture dating back to the 17th or 18th c, aspects of the development of religious tourism, and other.
Finally, the US Ambassador thanked Metropolitan Vladimir for warm greeting, mentioning that he has reason to believe in a fruitful mutual collaboration for the benefit of the people of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the web-site of the White House, the new US Ambassador is one of the State Department officers specialized in Eastern Europe, who performed various missions in the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, and Afghanistan.
