5 August 2018, on the 10th Sunday after the Pentecost, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova conducted the prayers during the Divine Liturgy in the monastery of Holy Great-Martyr Demetrius in Ceadir-Lunga, Gagauz autonomy, celebrating the Feast of the Pochyayev Icon of the Mother of God.
Concelebrating to the first hierarch of the Moldovan Orthodox Church were: His Eminence Pavel, Metropolitan of Vyshgorod and Cernobyl, monk superior of Pecersk Monastery, His Grace Anatolie, Bishop of Cahul and Comrat, His Grace Dionisy (Constantinov), retired Bishop originating from Ceadir-Lunga, and numerous clergy of Cahul and Comrat Diocese.
Pochyayev Icon of the Mother of God is one of the most venerated shrines in the Orthodox Church. Pochyayev Lavra, an old bastion of Orthodoxy, has been hosting the wonder-working icon of the Mother of God for about 400 years. Numerous miracles are produced by the Theotokos, in response to prayers at her icon in Pochyayev, and are registered in books maintained by the monastic community.
A Te-Deum thanks-giving service was officiated after the Liturgy, after which Metropolitan Vladimir congratulated the liturgical community.
