16 December 2018, on the 29th Sunday after the Pentecost, Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of Christ Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau. The arch-pastor was assisted at the service by the Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and the clergy of the cathedral.
The Sunday Gospel Reading (Luke 18: 18-27) speaks about true Christian virtues, presented in the conversation between a certain ruler and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord explains that to achieve spiritual perfection, one cannot limit himself only to the 10 Commandments of the Old Testament, but devout his whole heart to Christ and follow Him in all his ways.
If one’s heart is attached to whatever material goods, rather than to God, than he cannot be a perfect follower of Christ.
The Orthodox Church experiences now Advent, or the fast before the Nativity of Christ, and Gospel Readings have the role of preparing the church-goers spiritually for this bright Feast.
