  • His Eminence Vladimir of Chisinau and Moldova celebrated the Feast of the Circumcision of the Lord and Holy Hierarch Basil the Great in the Monastery of Hagimus

O Jesus, Who in the highest dost sit with Thine unoriginate Father and the divine Spirit upon a fiery throne, Thou wast well-pleased to be born on earth of Thy Mother, a Maiden who knew not man; wherefore, thou wast circumcised as a babe eight days of age. Glory to Thine all-good counsel! Glory to Thy dispensation! Glory to Thy condescension, O Thou Who alone lovest mankind!

14 January 2023 (1 January in the Church Calendar), on the Feast of the Circumcision of the Lord and commemoration day of Holy Hierarch Basil the Great, Metropolitan Vladimir visited the Monastery of Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women Martha and Mary in Hagimus, Causeni, to share the spiritual joy of the day with the monastic community.

Praying with His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, were archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary, Archimandrite Andrei (Cotruta), spiritual administrator of the monastery, and numerous clergy.

The Monastery’s choir provided the liturgical responses during the service.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir addressed a message of congratulation and pastoral guidance to the liturgical community, speaking about the significance of the day. His Eminence referred to the humility of God, in His utmost love for the mankind. Metropolitan Vladimir also congratulated all those who are named after St. Basil the Great, wishing them to follow the faith and devotion of their patron saint.

The arch-pastor wished a blessed new year to the community, with many spiritual results and good achievements, to the Glory of God. Following ancient tradition, the clergy cast seeds of various grains upon the church-goers.

Metropolitan Vladimir then consecrated a set of 7 church bells, provided to the monastic settlement with the blessing of God and the efforts of Archimandrite Andrei (Cotruta), hegumeness Marta (Cusnir) – the superior nun, the monastic community, and the ctitors of the holy place.

Agape dinner was then offered to all participants, after which the choir Ascensio of the Arts Hight School and the Choir of children from the Church of St. John Baptizer of Stefan-Voda, conducted by priest Ioan Apostol and presbitera Olga, presented a concert of traditional Christmas Carols and New Year songs.
