  • His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir called the ordinary meeting of the extended diocesan council of the Diocese of Chisinau

     

    On Thursday, 16 November, 2023, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova, in accordance with the statutory provisions, convened the ordinary meeting of the Extended Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Chisinau of the Orthodox Church in Moldova.

    The event took place in the Synodal Hall of the Metropolitan Residence and was attended by:

    His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Institutional Communication and Media Relations, His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Orhei, Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Monasteries and Monastic Life, His Grace Filaret, Bishop of Căpriana, Metropolitan Vicar, Protopriest Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary, chairmen of synodal sectors, district deans, abbots and abbesses of the Diocese of Chisinau.

    The Assembly began with a greeting by the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, after which His Eminence Vladimir addressed various aspects and issues related to the unrest in the Church and society in recent weeks, starting from the extraordinary realities in which the Orthodox Church of the Republic of Moldova finds itself in the context of the war in Ukraine.

    Other speakers at the assembly were: His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Institutional Communication and Media Relations, His Grace Siluan, Bishop of Orhei, Metropolitan Vicar, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Monasteries and Monastic Life, Protopriest Pavel Borșevschi, Dean of Sector II Chisinau, Protopriest Anatolie Stefanov, Dean of Ialoveni district, Protopriest Iulian Rață, Dean of Orhei district, Protopriest Constatin Portărescu, Dean of Stefan Voda district, Protopriest Petru Oltu, Dean of Anenii Noi district, Protopriest Teodor Domnița, Dean of Riscani district, etc.

    At the end of the meeting, the Address of the Extended Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Chisinau of the Orthodox Church of Moldova to the clergy and laity in the context of current challenges was unanimously adopted.

    The priests and laity of the Diocese of Chisinau were called to prove faithfulness to the Orthodox Church of Moldova:

    “In this regard, we urge you all, clergy and laity, to preserve peace and Christian unity and to avoid slipping into all kinds of politically fuelled divisions, schisms and conflicts”, was mentioned in the resolution of the Assembly
