On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova attended the joint meeting of the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The event took place in the Patriarchal Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and was presided by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
In his opening speech, the Patriarch welcomed the assembly, expressing his joy for this traditional annual event. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church stressed the importance of the united presence of the two key institutions of the Russian Church – the Holy Synod and the Supreme Church Council – as an essential element of church activity.
“We hold this meeting at the end of the year to evaluate how the past year has been, to discuss our achievements and possible problems. Today’s meeting is an important one, and I wish that, by God’s grace, we may be successful in these endeavours,” the Patriarch said.
The meeting was attended by permanent and temporary members of the Holy Synod, members of the Supreme Church Council, as well as invited representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate Administration and synodal institutions.
