  • Divine Service on the Nativity of the Lord in the Central Cathedral of Moldova

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, o redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

    (Galatians 4: 4-5)

Today, when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The main ecclesiastic shrine of the Orthodox Church of Moldova celebrated its Patron Feast, being consecrated to the Nativity of the Lord.

During the Small Entrance, deacon Ioan Diaconu, Cathedral cleric, was awarded the right of wearing the double Orarion.

This was a very significant service for the Cathedral’s subdeacon Andrei Golovatii, who was ordained by the metropolitan into the dignity of deacon.

Multitudes of church-goers participated in Holy Communion.

After the Divine Service, the Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, read out Metropolitan Vladimir’s Message on the Nativity of the Lord.

At the end, Metropolitan Vladimir distributed gifts of sweets to the children present at the service.

The Divine Service on the Nativity of the Lord was live cast on the National TV and Radio, with liturgical comments provided by journalist Iulian Proca.
