On the Sixth Sunday after the Pentecost, of the Healing of the Paralytic in Capernaum, Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and Moldova, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.
His Grace Ioan was assisted at the Service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean, and the Cathedral clergy.
Bishop Ioan mentioned in the archpastoral guidance on today’s Gospel Reading (Matthew 9: 1-8):
“We see in today’s Gospel Reading that Lord Jesus Christ comes up with mercy to the paralytic in Capernaum, strengthening him with His healing power. To everyone’s amazement, the healed man rose immediately and went home healthy, to become a blessing for his family, deeply impoverished by his disease.
By this miracle, Lord Jesus Christ proves that He was sent by God-Father to forgive sins and heal. Nobody, but God Himself, Who became one of us and took up our sins, can forgive them. God continues to cast this divine power on us, for our spiritual and bodily salvation.
