  • Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau, on the 16th Sunday after the Pentecost

6th October 2019, the 16th Sunday after the Pentecost, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

His Eminence Vladimir was assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, archpriest Teodor Bazatin, rector of the Dormition of the Mother of God Parish in Riscani, and numerous priests and deacons.

Liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral’s Choir directed by Angela Angheni.

Today’s Gospel Reading (Luke 5: 1-11) speaks about the miraculous fishing and the calling of Apostles Peter and brothers James and John, sons of Zebedee. It underlines the importance of obedience and trust into God, and shows that responding to the Lord’s calling endows a person with unearthly spiritual power.

The miraculous fishing mentioned in the Gospel by Luke demonstrates once again that the power of God reigns over the entire creation, people and animals, seen and unseen things.

During this Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir ordained deacon Arsenie Bazatin into priesthood, while 2018 year’s graduate of the Theological Academy of Chisinau, Serghei Carausi, received the diaconal ordination.

The metropolitan congratulated the young clergymen and wished them to resemble the holy apostles mentioned in today’s Gospel reading, and dedicate their lives to the service of Christ, in purity, humility, faith, and love.
