Saturday, 18 May 2019, a Cross Procession for the support of the family took place in Chisinau. Numerouschurch-goers supported their parish priests and answered the call of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, to participate in a procession dedicated to the support of traditional family values.
Following Christian tradition of initiating any God-pleasing activity with a Divine Service, Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy early Saturday in the Monastery of St. Theodore of Tyre (Ciuflea Monastery) in Chisinau. The first hierarch of the Moldovan Church was assisted at the service by other diocesan archpastors: Bishop Marchel of Balti and Falesti, Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, and Bishop Siluan of Orhei, Metropolitan Vicar. Numerous priests and deacons participated in the Divine Liturgy.
The Service closed with thanks-giving prayer, and the archpastors conducted a Cross Procession from the Monastery of St. Theodore of Tyre to the Central Cathedral of Chisinau, followed by clergy and laity arrived from the whole country.
The procession participants chanted church songs, praying to God, to the Theotokos, and to saints, for the protection of our country. Numerous families arrived to participate in the event were holding pro-family and anti-homosexuality banners and messages.
President Igor Dodon and family were among the participants.
Arrived in the Cathedral Square, Metropolitan Vladimir delivered a pro-family message, followed by a speech of Mr. Igor Dodon.
“We believe in the future of the family, as institution, as form of human continuity. In fact, family issues were and are constantly present in the centre of the Church’s pastoral and social mission, because family represents the foundation of human society”, mentioned Metropolitan Vladimir.
The Pro-Family March is organized in its 5th edition this year.
