  • Venerable Paisy of Neamț celebrated at Noul Neamț Monastery

    The commemoration of Venerable Paisy of Neamț celebrated on the first day of the Nativity Fast gathered arch-pastors, priests, deacons, monastics, and numerous pilgrims in the Monastery of Noul Neamț in Chițcani, who joined Metropolitan Vladimir during prayers at the Divine Liturgy.

    The Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova proclaimed year 2022 a jubilee year of Venerable Paisy of Neamț, marking the 300th anniversary of the saint’s birth.

    On 28th November, the feast day of Venerable Paisy, Metropolitan Vladimir arrived in the Monastery of Noul Neamț in Chițcani, Slobozia district, to conduct the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and utter prayers to St. Paisy, the monastery’s Patron Saint.

    During the Liturgy celebrated in the Dormition of the Theotokos church of the Monastery, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova prayed together with Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, Archbishop Sava of Tiraspol and Dubasari, Bishop Iriney of Orsk and Gai, Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, archimandrite Paisie (Cecan), the monastic superior of Noul Neamț Monastery, and numerous priests and deacons.

    During the Small Entrance of teh Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir awarded the 2nd degree order of Holy Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni to archimandrite Paisie (Cecan), the superior of the Monastery, and the 2nd degree order of Venerable Paisy Velichkonsky to archimandrite Cozma (Ceaglei).

    Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan addressed a message of congratulation and spiritual guidance to the praying community after the Liturgy, speaking about the figure of Venerable Paisy and his role in the revival of monastic and ascetic life in the Orthodox world.

    After the service, the liturgical community joined the arch-pastors in thanks-giving prayers in front of the icon of Venerable Paisy, and the monastery’s superior monk, archimandrite Paisie thanked the arch-pastors and all other participants for prayers.

    A commemoration service was officiated at the tomb of Bishop Dorimedont of Edinet and Briceni, who had made a considerable input to the rebirth of Noul Neamt Monastery being its superior for 8 years.
