On the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, June 13, 2024, Bishop Ioan of Soroca and Drochia celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Ascension of the Lord Cathedral within the monastic complex of Japca, together with the Metropolitan bishop-vicars Siluan of Orhei and Filaret of Căpriana. Also participating were abbots and abbesses of monasteries, deaneries and priests, the monastic community and pilgrims from different parts of the country.
Before the beginning of the Holy and Divine Liturgy, the Holy Table was consecrated.
During the Small Entrance, with the blessing of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, the monastery’s cleric, Hieromonk Luca (Sîrbu), was decorated with the right to wear the Cross with jewels.
For her efforts in carrying out the capital repairs to the monastery cathedral, the abbess of the monastery, nun Parascheva (Gesan), was awarded the order “Venerable Parascheva”, II degree.
The donors who substantially supported the repair works were decorated with ecclesiastical orders.
After the consecration of the exterior of the holy place, the diocesan hierarch congratulated all the participants on the occasion of the feast day of the monastery, also conveying the paternal message of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova.
At the same time, His Eminence expressed gratitude to the vicar archbishops for their participation, to the founders for their help, and to abbess Parascheva, the servants, the nuns and the oblates for all their obedience and work.
