  • The Sunday after the Theophany, celebrated at the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau

On the Sunday after the Theophany, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.

Concelebrating to the Metropolitan at the Divine Service was His Grace Bishop Anatolie of Cahul and Comrat, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, the metropolitan secretary and Dean of the Metropolitan Cathedral, and a synaxis of priests and deacons of this holy site.

In today´s Gospel reading, Holy Apostle Matthew speaks about the beginning of Jesus Christ’s preaching in the region of Galilee: “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up(Matthew 4, 16)

Light is His impeccable life, light are His acts of love, light is, especially, His teaching that brings life water to the humanity. That is why, only lighting up and warming up at this Light, at this Sun of righteousness (Mal 4, 2), letting ourselves to be guided by Him in all days of our lives, just as we are warmed up by the material sun that guides the life on our planet, shall we be able to inherit the life eternal.

The Holy Church is the source of light. Through its teaching and Holy Sacraments, canons, rules and orders, we are offered light that comes down from the sky, so that our thoughts and hearts are directed towards truth and righteousness.

Our Lord Jesus Christ calls us to eternal life when He says “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8, 12), and “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11, 25).

During the Divine Liturgy, the Archpastors, the clergy and the laity uttered in unison the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer, after which the church-goers came up to the Hierarch’s blessing, being called to good acts that come hand-in-hand with the Christian faith, for the salvation of their souls.
