  • The meeting of Church circumscription number 1 was held

Mitred Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, administrator of Chisinau church circumscription number 1, called today the meeting of all priests of this church district. Taking into account the fact that this meeting was the first in this format, Fr. Vadim got acquainted with the clergymen of all parishes of the circumscription.

About 40 clergymen discussed the organizational structure of the recently created church circumscription. After the discussions, Mitred Priest Teodor Tihon – who celebrated today the thirty-second anniversary of priesthood ordainment – was elected father confessor of the circumscription, and congratulated on these events by the clergymen.

Protodeacon Oleg Pascal was elected to the position of circumscription secretary. Besides, the Disciplinary Commission was instituted, consisting of Mitred Archpriest Valeriu Potoroaca, Mitred Archpriest Ioan Plamadeala, and Mitred Archpriest Mihail Gondiu.

Mitred Archpriest Octavian Mosin was appointed school inspector, being assigned the duties to monitor religious education in the community schools within this church district.

The members of the meeting also discussed the process of teaching religion in schools and charity activities of the parishes. Another issue discussed was the historical aspects of church buildings and communities within Chisinau Sector 1 (Center). The majority of them have huge value as cultural and historical heritage.

In his presentation, Fr. Vadim Cheibas underlined that those 20 churches from the center of the capital need to maintain their status of the most representative cites of worship of the city, both by taking care and maintaining their exterior, and, especially, by efficient organization of parish life. Thus, it was suggested that every single clergyman is involved both in the life of the parish, and in other activities of social and pastoral nature. It was proposed that an evaluation is made, to study the existing situation, achievements, challenges of each parish.

Issues of social life were also discussed, and attitude taken regarding the latest version of the draft Law on the equality of chances, as well as the issue of priests making public statements.

A petition was written to His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, asking that certain clergymen are appointed to represent the Metropolis in various discussions and debates with the media.
