  • The first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova met Patriarch of Jerusalem

A delegation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova conducted by Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova is visiting the Holy Land (Israel) during  4-12 December 2022

The delegation members include Metropolitan Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary, priests and laity of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.

These days, Moldovan pilgrims had a splendid opportunity to visit a number of places of worship and sites with spiritual significance that remember the foot-steps of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Friday, 9 December, the group of Moldovan pilgrims was received by Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III.

His Holiness greeted and welcomed the guests, appreciating the love of Metropolitan Vladimir and Moldovan pilgrims for the holy places of Israel.

In sign of profound respect and brotherly love, Metropolitan Vladimir offered gifts to Patriarch Theophilos, on behalf of the Orthodox Church of Moldova. His Holiness, in his turn, presented each delegation member with an Icon of the Theotokos “Of Jerusalem”.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchy of Jerusalem provides spiritual care to Christians of the Holy Land (Israel), Middle East, Persian Golf, and Arab Emirates, representing an uninterrupted historical thread of holiness, martyrdom, and resistance of Christ’s Church and its Christian community, and ensuring the conservation of the Holy Places.

The historical heritage, theological beliefs, and strong cultural values, along with the experience of peaceful living together with other religions, make Jerusalem Patriarchy not only a remarkable institution, but also an important decision-making force in the pan-orthodox relations, inter-confessional dialogue, and any peace effort in the Middle East.
