Wednesday, 27th September 2017, on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau, assisted by the Cathedral’s clergy, who prayed in the presence of numerous church-goers.
The Universal Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross is one of the 12 Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church. Commemorating the Crucification of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Exaltation of the Cross is celebrating with fast, in solemn and thoughtful atmosphere.
Before the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir consecrated a set of new Antimenses to replace old ones in the parishes of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
After the Gospel Reading, His Eminence Vladimir talked to the praying community about the significance of today’s Feast – the commemoration of the passion on the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the significance of the veneration of the Cross in Christianity. The Arch-pastor also explained the origin of the Feast dating back to the fourth century AD.
