The Church of the Lord celebrates today, 21 November (8 November in the church calendar) the Feast of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the Synaxis of all angels.
Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Archangels in the Metropolitan Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau, assisted by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, metropolitan secretary and Cathedral Dean, and a synaxis of priests and deacons of the holy shrine.
With the archpastor’s blessing, father Vadim Cheibas delivered the message with the pastoral guidance, mentioning: “We pray during Divine Services for the Lord to give us peace and protection, and that He guards us with the protection of our Guarding Angel, when we beseech of the Lord during the Litany for ‘An angel of peace, the faithful guide and guardian of our souls and bodies’. This means that we ask God for His angel to remain with us and give us pure thoughts, helping us to gain salvation, to the glory of the Lord”.
The Troparion (a chant representing the essence of the Feast) of the Holy Archangels says:
Supreme commanders of the armies of Heaven,/ we, the unworthy, do ever entreat you,/ that by your prayers ye ever surround us/ with the protection of the wings of your immaterial glory,/ preserving us that earnestly fall down before you and cry aloud:/ Deliver us from misfortunes,// in that ye are the leaders of the hosts on high.
His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir congratulated the praying community and wished everybody heavenly protection and praying intercession of the armies of Heaven.
