On Friday, 21st October 2016, the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was held under the lead of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
The Orthodox Church of Moldova was represented by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova, permanent member of the Holy Synod of the ROC.
Following the report submitted by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and to the Holy Synod of the ROC, the Holy Synod decided the election of Most Reverend Archimandrite Siluan (Şalari) into the dignity of Bishop of Orhei, Vicar of the Metropolis of Chisinau and All Moldova.
Father Archimandrite SIluan (Şalari) has rich experience of church ministry, with a good intellectual background, and prominent leadership capacity accumulated within the obedience of monk superior of Holy Monastery of Curchi, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Monasteries and Monastic life, and Dean of Orhei church circumscription.
