  • Sunday after the Feast of Theophany: Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau

Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated Divine Liturgy on the Sunday after  Theophany, or, Baptism of the Lord, at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.

The first hierarch was assisted at the service by the Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Ceibas, the dean of Portuguese parishes of Corsun Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, archpriest Ioan Gherbovetschi, and other clergy.

The Sunday Gospel Reading speaks about the beginning of Lord Jesus’ preaching in the region of Galilee: “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.” (Mt. 4: 16).

Light is God Himself, Who shines into the entire world. Light is also Lord Jesus’ impeccable life, His acts of love, His vivid and life-giving teaching. That is why, only walking in this light, being warmed by this Sun of righteousness, and guided by it in all our lives, are we able to inherit the life eternal.

The Holy Church is the source of light. By its teaching and Holy Sacraments, by the church orders and rules, we are offered the heavenly light that guides our hearts and thoughts towards the truth and righteousness.

During the service, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated diaconal ordination of Oleg Galitchi, graduate of the Theology Academy of Chisinau, and appointed the young cleric to mission in the Metropolitan Cathedral.
