Numerous church-goers participated on Saturday 19th December 2020 in the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of Holy Hierarch Nicholas in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Divine Service was celebrated by Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, assisted by the Cathedral clergy.
After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated a Thanks-giving Te-Deum Laudamus service, giving glory to God and thanking St. Nicholas for heavenly protection.
Talking to the praying community after the service, Metropolitan Vladimir mentioned that he has special worship for St. Nicholas, whose name the metropolitan received at his baptismal. The arch-pastor also recalled the times when he, as a child, used to be taken by his parents and grandparents to the parish church on this holiday, and listen to the priest who spoke to the congregation about the life of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas. These stories rendered the atmosphere of piety, love, and goodness with which St. Nicholas treated all people as a priest, then as a bishop. Now, as a saint of the Universal Christian Church, St. Nicholas is a fervent protector and helper of all those who pray to him, asking for heavenly intercession before the Lord.
The Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, congratulated Metropolitan Vladimir on the Feast of his Heavenly Patron, mentioning: “Your Eminence, the feast of St. Nicholas brings outstanding joy to You, who received the name of Nicholas at your baptismal as a child. The Holy Hierarch Nicholas of Myra had always guided and supported you, as your heavenly protector.
On this feast, we bow in prayer before St. Nicholas, praying for his help, protection, and intercession for you, supporting Your Eminence at the helm of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, for the glory of Christ and salvation of the church-goers!”
