  • Session of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova held at the Metropolitan Residence in Chisinau

    Monday, 21st October 2019, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova presided the session of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova at the Metropolitan Residence.

    The participants of the Synod include all arch-pastors of the Orthodox Church of Moldova: Archbishop Sava of Tiraspol and Dubasari, Bishop Anatolie of Cahul and Comrat, Bishop Petru of Ungheni and Nisporeni, Bishop Marchel of Balti and Falesti, Bishop Nicodim of Edinet and Briceni; Vicar Bishops of the Metropolis of Chisinau and all Moldova Ioan of Soroca and Siluan of Orhei; secretary of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, archpriest Vadim Cheibas.

    During the Session, Metropolitan Vladimir, the Chairman of the Synod, presented a series of reports on the participation at the sessions of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on 7th and 17th October 2019; canonical visit to the Archdiocese of Tiraspol and Dubasari on 11th-12th September 2019; and a series of administrative changes in the structures of the Synodal Depatments and Commissions.

    The Synod Members approved the participation of the delegation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova in the events related to the canonisation of St. Dionisie (Erhan), Bishop of Cetatea Alba and Ismail, to be held on 27th October in the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucarest.

    Another Synod decision referred to the research of the life of Venerable Macarie of Saharna and further proposals for canonisation in the Russian Orthodox Church.

    A number of reports of Vicar Bishop Siluan of Orhei, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Monasteries Monastic Living, were held, and decisions on the restructuring and foundation of monastic settlements were made.
