Thursday 14 October, when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.
The arch-pastor was assisted at the Service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, and numerous clergymen of the holy shrine.
Praying among numerous Christians at the Liturgy were General Mayor of Chisinau, Mr. Ion Ceban, Chairman of the Foundation for the unity of Orthodox people, Mr. Valeri Alexeev, Members of the Parliament, and Municipal Councillors.
The Liturgical community prayed to Ever-Virgin Mary for her protection and intercession before the Heavenly King.
Addressing the arch-pastoral message to the community, Metropolitan Vladimir said that Chisinau is truly God-blessed and rejoices under the protection of the Mother of God.
The celebration of the Patron Feast was inaugurated after the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Square. Chisinau celebrates the 585th anniversary since it was mentioned for the first time in the chronicles.
