  • Over 200 children in need receive school bags and school supplies at the start of the school year

From July 15 to August 31, 2024, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the 5th edition of the Campaign “Help a child to go to school!”, initiated by the Synodal Sector for Social Activity and Charity of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, took place.

More than 200 school bags and sets of school supplies were collected for children from socially vulnerable families in the country, beneficiaries of this year’s campaign.

The backpacks equipped with school supplies, clothes, shoes, school outfits, toys and other gifts were generously donated to the children by the President of the Synodal Sector for Social Activity and Charity, Father Macarie Crudu, together with the group of young volunteers “St. Rev. Sofian of Antim”.

The event took place at the Social-Missionary Center “Icon of the Mother of God, Joy of all those in sorrow” of the Metropolis of Moldova in the capital.

The gifts were offered from the compassionate souls of the donors for more than 200 children from disadvantaged families or at risk across the country. These children are given an equal chance for education, starting the new school year with the joy of going to school with new backpacks full of school supplies. This help from the Metropolitan institution every year is of real benefit to pupils in difficult material circumstances, as it enables them to live a normal life, satisfying their educational needs.

In this year’s philanthropic program, the staff and volunteers of the Social and Charity Center “Priestess Irina Cij” from Chisinau also participated, distributing dozens of school bags with school supplies to children from families with limited material sources, under the care of the center.

From our hearts and on behalf of the beneficiaries, we express our sincere gratitude and thanks to all those who have become true heroes for these young people on their journey towards knowledge. You have demonstrated a remarkable example of involvement in the noble campaign of good acts, whether as volunteers or donors.

May the Good Lord help us to continue to bring hope and joy to the hearts and souls of those who are sadder than ourselves!
