The Passion Week is a very special period when Christians experience spiritually the passions suffered by our Lord Jesus Christ before His Crucifixion.
Thus, on Great Thursday, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova officiated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great, united with Vespers, at the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.
Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Dean of the Cathedral, prayed together with the Metropolitan, along with numerous priests and deacons of the holy place.
Great Thursday is the day when our Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Eucharist during the Last Supper. He washed the feet of His disciples, to show them a model of humility and service to the neighbour.
On this day, during the Divine Service, in addition to the Lamb of the Liturgy, a second Holy Lamb was sanctified, which will be dried and crushed at the Liturgy on the third day of Easter of St. John Chrysostom, through a special ordinance. The resulting particles are used as Communion for the sick, children and in special situations. This Holy Communion is kept in the Holy Ark in the Holy Altar, on the Holy Table.
Like in every year, numerous believers came to commune on Great Thursday. In the Eucharist, our Lord Christ gives us His life, so that His life becomes our life. It is the guarantee of the life eternal.
