His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova, officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy on the 21st Sunday after Pentecost (the resurrection of Jairus’ daughter) at the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral in the capital.
The Metropolitan was assisted at the service by Protopriest Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, along with a synaxis of priests and deacons.
During the Divine Liturgy, the First Hierarch, clergy, and faithful thanked God for all His blessings and prayed the Lord Christ for guidance in good deeds and protection from any adversaries.
During the service, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir ordained Subdeacon Ghenadie Rusu, a 2003 graduate of the Academy of Orthodox Theology of Moldova, to the rank of deacon.
After the Lord’s Prayer, numerous faithful partook of the Body and Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The liturgical responses were provided by the mixed choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral, directed by Mrs. Angela Angheni.
With the Hierarch’s blessing, the sermon on the Holy Gospel was delivered by Father Vadim, who told the faithful:
“When the woman was healed, the Savior said, Who touched Me? (Luke 8:45) to bring her healing to the attention of all. Similarly, regarding the girl, He said, She is not dead, but sleeping (Matthew 9:24), so that those present could testify that she was indeed dead, and upon seeing her brought back to life, those who had doubted might believe. Their testimony concerning the death of the young girl and her restoration to life by our Savior prophesied His own death. Those who would witness that He lives again would no longer deny the Resurrection.”
