21 August 2022, on the 10th Sunday after Pentecost, the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova visited St. John the Baptist parish in Chisinau, officiating the Divine Liturgy.
Metropolitan Vladimir is the first arch-pastor to officiate the Divine Liturgy in this recently built church.
Early in the morning, the parish rector, archpriest Teodor Borta, greeted Metropolitan Vladimir, welcoming him to the parish shrine and assisting the hierarch in the Divine Service.
Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, metropolitan Secretary, archpriest Pavel Borsevschi, Dean of Sector 2 Chisinau church circumscription, archpriest Teodor Borta, and numerous priests and deacons prayed together with the arch-pastor, in the middle of a big number of churchgoers.
During the Small Entrance of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir awarded a high church distinction to archpriest Teotor Borta – the 3rd degree Order of Holy Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni, in sign of high appreciation of the pastoral and missionary efforts in the parish and input to the prosperity of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
Numerous children and adults participating in the Liturgy received Holy Communion, and after the Divine Service, Metropolitan Vladimir handed out prayer books and icons to all churchgoers for the memory of the day. Numerous benefactors of the parish were awarded church distinctions.
A Te-Deum-Laudamus Litany was uttered after the Liturgy, thanking God for all mercy and gifts.
