On Friday, 14 March, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir visited the Monastery of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Răciula, Călărași District, to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the Reverend Schema-Abbess Eustolia, the Abbess of the monastic settlement, who today celebrates the venerable age of 100 years.
Upon arrival, the Metropolitan was warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Petru of Ungheni and Nisporeni, the honoured Abbess, Schema-Abbess Eustolia, the abbots and abbesses from the Ungheni and Nisporeni Diocese, as well as priests, the monastic community, and numerous faithful who gathered for this significant moment in the life of the monastery.
On the occasion of this jubilee, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir granted Mother Abbess the right to wear a second cross and conferred upon her the First-Class Order of St. Venerable Parascheva, in recognition of her long-standing service and devotion to the Church and the monastic community.
Furthermore, His Eminence Vladimir also honoured the Superior of the Monastery, Mother Lavrentia, by granting her the right to wear a gold cross. Mother Lavrentia has been a resident of Răciula Monastery for 46 years, during which time she has stood alongside Schema-Abbess Eustolia in all renovation and embellishment works carried out since the monastery’s reopening.
Following the ceremony, the Metropolitan visited the monastery’s places of worship and was acquainted with the restoration and architectural development works completed so far, as well as the ongoing projects.
